Rawhide
Rawhide has been used for centuries to make saddle trees, drums, snow shoes, shields, moccasin soles, lacing and so much more. It comes in a very stiff hide because it has not been tanned, only de-haired and cured. When soaking in water it will become soft and able to shape. When drying again it will shrink, stiffen and retain whatever shape it is given.
